ARLINGTON, Texas – Louisiana Men's Tennis (21-9, 3-4 SBC) wrapped up its 2019 regular season with a tough 4-0 loss at UT Arlington (14-8, 4-2 SBC), in a Sunday afternoon Sun Belt Conference matchup at the UTA Tennis Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Doubles): UT Arlington began the day by taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 1, the Louisiana pairing of senior Arthur Libaud and junior Pearse Dolan dropped their match to Guanarteme Nuez and Mauricio Rio, 6-1.
At No. 3, the Ragin' Cajuns junior pairing of Elio Lago and Jamie Fraser lost to Miguel Cabrera and Alejandro Hayen, 6-4, to give UT Arlington the doubles point and a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Singles): Louisiana, down 1-0 after the doubles point, would unfortunately fail to pick up any wins in singles as UT Arlington took wins at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 singles to get the win. At No. 2, Dolan fell in straight sets to Nuez, 6-2, 6-4 and at No. 5, Fraser dropped his match, 6-2, 6-2, to Cabrera.
At No. 4, Libaud put up a battle against Hayen, pushing the first set to a tiebreaker, before eventually falling in straight sets, 7-6, 6-1. The three wins in singles gave UT Arlington the 4-0 win over Louisiana in the regular season finale.
