Ragin' Cajuns to face host Islanders on Sunday
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Darius Balan and Gianluca Filoramo each recorded two wins, including a clinching doubles victory at No. 3, to lead Louisiana to a 4-0 win over New Mexico State on Saturday at the H-E-B Tournament of Champions at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
The victory was the second straight for Louisiana (4-3), which will face host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (11-1) on Sunday at 10 a.m.
Louisiana secured the doubles point by winning the final two matches. Leonard Tramolay and Mason Landreth earned a 6-4 win over NM State's Holland Snell and Lance Urlaub at No. 1 before Balan and Filoramo clinched the point with a 7-6 (8-6) decision against Patrick Lohmann and Matias Rojas at No. 3 for a 1-0 lead.
Filoramo extended the advantage in singles, opening with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Laurendi Fischer at No. 6 to give the Ragin' Cajuns a 2-0 edge. Samuel Kyjaci followed with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Rojas at No. 4, and Balan closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win against Urlaub at No. 5.
