Louisiana Opens Exhibition Slate Against Mississippi College

Game is one of two exhibition contests the Ragin’ Cajuns will play in
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana is preparing for the 2019-20 campaign with the first of two exhibition contests when it welcomes Mississippi College to the Cajundome on Monday, Oct. 28, for a 6 p.m. tip.
The team closes out exhibition play on Friday, Nov. 1, against Spring Hill College before officially opening the season against Loyola-New Orleans on Thursday, Nov. 7.
Louisiana returns its entire roster from a season ago, including starters Brandi Williams, Ty'Reona Doucet, Andrea Cournoyer, Skyler Goodwin and Jomyra Mathis. Williams is the reigning Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, while Doucet led the team in nearly every statistical category, including scoring (13.2) and rebounds (8.3).
Along with key contributors Kristen Daniels, Kendall Bess, Diamond Morrison and Jazmyn Womack, the Ragin' Cajuns welcome back two well-known faces in Jasmine Thomas and Kimberly Burton. The duo last saw action for Louisiana in the 2017-18 season, combining for 367 points and 215 rebounds.
The Ragin' Cajuns have added four newcomers who are looking to make an immediate impact on the squad in freshmen Alexandria Goodly, Makayia Hallmon, Caira Wren and Bre'Yelle Porter.
Mississippi College finished the 2018-19 season with an 8-18 overall record and a 4-16 record in Gulf South Conference play. The Choctaws will lean on senior Zariah Matthews to lead the charge once again after she led the team in points per game (11.0) in 26 games played.
