Louisiana to Open SBC Championship with Rematch Against Georgia State

Ragin’ Cajuns draw Panthers in first round just four days after meeting in regular season finale
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball is scheduled to begin play in the 2026 Visit Pensacola Sun Belt Women's Basketball Championship tournament presented by Air Force Reserve on Tuesday, March 3 with a quick rematch against Georgia State at 2:00 p.m. inside the Pensacola Bay Center.
Louisiana (4-25, 2-16 SBC) enters the tournament as the No. 14 seed and will face No. 11 seed Georgia State (10-20, 5-13 SBC) just four days after the two teams met in the regular season finale on Friday, February 27 in Atlanta.
Fans can watch live on ESPN+ and listen on the Ragin' Cajuns Radio Network (The GOAT 103.3 FM/1420 AM and the Varsity Network) with commentary from Dawson Eiserloh. Live stats will be available via CajunStats.StatBroadcast.com.
In the regular season finale, Georgia State held off a late Ragin' Cajuns charge for a 74-68 victory. UL erased a second-half deficit and pulled even at 50-all early in the fourth quarter before the Panthers responded with a decisive 14-0 run midway through the period.
Louisiana trimmed the deficit to two possessions in the closing minutes behind a pair of 3-pointers from Stephanie Mosley, but GSU converted at the free-throw line down the stretch to secure the win.
The winner of Tuesday's UL-GSU contest advances to the second round to meet No. 10 seed ULM (14-15, 7-11 SBC) on Wednesday, March 4 at 2:00 p.m.
The 2026 championship marks the sixth consecutive season the conference tournament has been held in Pensacola. All 14 Sun Belt programs are competing in the single-elimination event, which runs Tuesday-Monday March 3-9 and determines the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
