Second Half Flurry Moves Tulsa Past @RaginCajunsSOC

HOUSTON, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Tulsa in the opening match of the Rice Tournament on Friday at Holloway Field.
The Golden Hurricane (3-2-1) outshot the Ragin' Cajuns (1-4-2) 19-7 in the match but only had an 8-5 edge in shots on goal.
Freshman Gwen Mummert led the team with three shots in the game while collecting her first career goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first half, Tulsa grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute on a goal from Reagan Whitlow off of an Anna Williams corner kick.
The Golden Hurricane extended their advantage to 2-0 in the 55th minute on a goal by Mia Darden.
Louisiana narrowed the Tulsa lead to 2-1 in the 70th minute on a header goal from Mummert on a cross from Grace Champagne.
Williams tacked on a late goal for Tulsa in the 87th minute to make the final 3-1.
UP NEXT
The Ragin' Cajuns close out the Rice Tournament on Sunday with a noon contest against Memphis. Following the matchup with the Tigers, Louisiana is set to open conference play on Sept. 14 at Troy.
