SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team finished in tenth with a two-round score of 27-over par (603) on Tuesday at the Lone Star Invitational hosted at the par-72, 7,435-yard TPC San Antonio AT&T Oaks Course.
Host UTSA held on to win the team title with a score of 2-over (578) edging out Arkansas State by two strokes. A-State's Zan Luke Stirn rallied with a final round score of 70 (-2) to tie UTSA's Sean Meehan for the individual title at 4-under (140).
Sliman Thought's
"Not the start this team was expecting to have as we open the fall season. We were very sloppy-inconsistent and lacked a tremendous amount of discipline. We have a good team that I am confident in, however, we need a lot more out of our seasoned upper-classmen on this team. We can not afford to have juniors and seniors not leading this group. I look for this week's slap in the face as a wake up call. The most important week in college football is from week one to week two. The same will be true for us as we leave tomorrow for our second event of the fall. We are eager to see how well this team responds."
Hinnant Posts Sub-Par Round
Sophomore Peter Hinnant climbed 27 spots in the final round with an 18-hole score of 71 (-1) to finish in a tie for 30th at 6-over par (150). Hinnant opened with clean first nine holes including two birdies before closing out the day 1-over in his final nine holes. The 71 marks the second career round under par for Hinnant.
Flynn Places In Top 25
Freshman Charlie Flynn notched his first career top 25 performance in his debut for the Ragin' Cajuns placing in a tie for 20th at 4-over par (148). Flynn had just one blemish on his card on the front nine in the second round with one birdie on the day.
Gudjonsson And Dubinski Move Up Leaderboard
Sophomore Bjorn Gudjonsson and freshman Hudson Dubinski each made a move up the leaderboard in the final round as the pair both carded a 73 (+1) on Tuesday. Gudjonsson moved up 20 spots into a tie for 48th at 9-over (153), while Dubinski slid up 21 spots into a tie for 52nd at 10-over (154).
