Texas State Rallies To Defeat @RaginCajunsBSB 6-5

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Louisiana baseball team couldn't overcome a four-run seventh inning by Texas State as the Ragin' Cajuns fell 6-5 in game two of the series on Saturday at Bobcat Ballpark.
Junior Nick Lee took the loss for the Cajuns (29-22, 15-11 SBC) after giving up four runs on four hits and a walk in 0.2 innings of work.
Anthony Pagano claimed the victory for the Bobcats (24-15-1, 12-14 SBC) limiting Louisiana to one run on two hits in 4.1 innings of relief.
LEADING THE CAJUNS
The Ragin' Cajuns outhit Texas State 12-11 in the game led by junior Gavin Bourgeois who went 3-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run. Zach LaFleur and Kennon Fontenot both had a pair of hits in the contest, while Tyler Stover drove in a team-best two runs.
Junior Daniel Lahare extended his hit streak to 12 games with his double in the fifth inning.
Starter Hogan Harris notched his fifth straight quality start holding the Bobcats to two runs (one earned) on six hits tossing 6.0 innings in a no decision.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Texas State got out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Luke Sherley reached on a single back to Harris and then came around to score from first base on two Louisiana errors.
The Bobcats added a run in the bottom of the third on an RBI single to right field by Sherley to make the score 2-0.
Louisiana exploded for four runs on five hits in the top of the fifth to take a 4-2 lead. After the Ragin' Cajuns evened the contest on a pair of RBI singles by Stover and Hayden Cantrelle, Bourgeois brought home Lahare on an infield single to shortstop to give the Cajuns a 3-2 lead. Hunter Kasuls drove in the final run of the inning on a two-out double to left centerfield.
Stover extended the lead to 5-2 in the top of the sixth when he brought home LaFleur on a perfectly executed suicide squeeze bunt.
In the bottom of the seventh, Texas State cut the lead to 5-4 on a two-out, two-run homer to left field by Sherley. Later in the inning, Derek Schieble drove in the winning runs for the Bobcats as he sent an 0-1 pitch from Lee over the fence in left for a two-run homer to make the score 6-5.
UP NEXT
Louisiana and Texas State meet in the rubber game tomorrow at 1 p.m. as the Cajuns look to make it six straight series victories. The Ragin' Cajuns have yet to announce a starter, while the Bobcats will start junior left-hander Wes Engle.
