@RaginCajunsSOC Loses Close Contest At Appalachian State

BOONE, N.C. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team came up short in a hard fought match at Appalachian State as the squad fell 1-0 in Sun Belt Conference action on Sunday at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
The Mountaineers (7-5-1, 4-1-0 SBC) had a slight 8-6 edge in shots over the Ragin' Cajuns (3-9-2, 2-4-0 SBC) in the contest, while both teams had five corners in the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Victoria Ryan had a game-high three stops.
HOW IT HAPPENED
App State tallied the lone goal of the match in the 34th minute when a cross from Emmily Cowie sailed past Ryan into the top of the net. Louisiana outshot the Mountaineers 4-3 in the first half, but was unable to find an equalizer in the first 45 mintues of action.
The Ragin' Cajuns best opportunity of the second half came in the 81st minute when ASU keeper Taylor Ray hauled in a shot from Alexis Miller from just outside the 18-yard box.

Louisiana returns home Friday, Oct. 12 to host Little Rock at 5 p.m. at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility. Following the matchup with the Trojans, the Ragin' Cajuns will head to Statesboro, Ga. to face Georgia Southern on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT in a makeup from the contest that was canceled due to hurricane Florence.
