Cajuns Finish First, Second Overall At New Orleans Invitational

Limoh claims men's 5K race; Musgrove earns third-place finish for women
NEW ORLEANS – Stanley Limoh paced a trio of runners to top-5 finishes on the men's side while senior Courtney Musgrove paced three runners in the top-8 on the women's side as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns cross country team posted a pair of solid finishes at the UNO Invitational on Friday at Lake Oaks Park.
Limoh claimed the men's 5-kilometer race on the men's side in 15:25.95 as Louisiana, ranked No. 11 in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Regional Cross Country Rankings, finished first overall on the men's side with 35 points. LSU finished second overall in the six-team meet with 39 points with Southeastern Louisiana (61), host New Orleans (104), Southern (135) and Nicholls State (165) rounding out the field.
Newcomer Jonathan Kimutai finished third overall (15:30.76) in his debut for the Ragin' Cajuns with Beau Robinson finishing fourth (15:32.45). Senior Dylan Heck placed 13th overall for Louisiana (16:25.24) with Logan LaGarde finishing 14th (16:28.93), freshman George Femmer 16th (16:45.92) and freshman Andre Bellard 17th (16:48.32).
Musgrove crossed the finish line in the women's 5K race in 18:58.91 to finish third overall and help Louisiana finish second behind LSU (24). The Ragin' Cajuns scored 36 points in the meet to finish ahead of SLU (77), Nicholls State (112), Southern (136) and New Orleans (136).
Lindsay LaGarde posted a fifth-place finish for Louisiana, crossing the finish line in 19:02.66. Claire Hodges finished eighth overall (19:21.17) in her 2017 debut for the Ragin' Cajuns with Courtney Broussard finishing 11th (19:40.10), Alexa Breaux 12th (19:52.89) and Hailey Hesterman 16th (20:24.11).
Louisiana will return to action on Sept. 8 when it is scheduled to compete at the Norry Hersey Rice Invitational on in Houston.
