Ragin' Cajuns Get Strong Performances At Azalea City Classic

MOBILE, Ala. – Stanley Limoh claimed his second individual title of the season, posting a time of 17:57.7 on the 6K course to help lead a 1-2-3 finish on the men's side while Courtney Musgrove led five runners to top-10 finishes on the women's side to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns cross country team at the Azalea City Classic on Friday at the Grounds of Mobile.

Beau Robinson posted a second-place finish for the Ragin' Cajuns men's team (17:58.4) with Jonathan Kimutai (18:20.9) was third as Louisiana placed four runners in the top-9 and finished with 26 points to claim the team title for the second straight week.

The Ragin' Cajuns finished ahead of host South Alabama (35), ULM (67) and Alabama State (115) in the four-team event.

"We were very satisfied with the progress we made today," head coach Lon Badeaux said. "It's exciting to get another victory for the men, but it was more important that our fitness has progressed where we were able to run the same paces for longer distance race."

Logan LaGarde (18:56.2) finished ninth overall for Louisiana with Dylan Heck (18:59.5) finishing 11th, George Femmer (19:17.9) 14th, Andre Bellard (19:27.3) 18th, Bryce Robinson (19:42.7) 22nd, Regan Lemaire (20:00.4) 25th and Conner Meche (20:42.8) 31st.

Musgrove earned her second straight third-place finish for the Ragin' Cajuns after covering the 5K course in 18:27.9. Lindsay LaGarde (18:34.8) earned a sixth-place finish for Louisiana with Claire Hodges finishing seventh (18:45.4), Alexa Breaux (18:57.1) ninth and Courtney Broussard (19:02.0) 10th.

Louisiana scored 35 points to finish second behind host South Alabama (32) with Alabama State (76) and ULM (81) rounding out the field.

"Our women's team is really coming along," said Badeaux. "Our team average was very good tonight for this early in the season and we are running closer together as a whole which will help them in bigger races later in the season."

Hailey Hesterman finished 14th overall for Louisiana (20:00.0) with freshman Teresa Brüning finishing 16th (20:25.0) and Ally McCulley 19th (20:56.2).

Louisiana will return to action on Sept. 23 when it travels to College Station, Texas to compete at the Texas A&M Invitational.
