Louisiana looks to build off third-place finish at SBC Indoor
ARLINGTON, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team looks to build off a successful indoor season when it begins competition on Friday at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships at Maverick Stadium on the campus of UT Arlington.

Action begins on Friday with first day competition in the decathlon at 9 a.m., followed by the opening events in the women's heptathlon at 9:30. Field events begin at 10 a.m., with the women's hammer throw with the first official running event – the women's 10,000-meter run – starts at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday's action begins with the conclusion of both the decathlon and heptathlon at 9 a.m., with field events scheduled at 12:30 p.m., and running preliminaries at 5 p.m. The final day on Sunday will begin with the men's discus at 10 a.m., before finals in running events start at 5 p.m.

Louisiana earned a third-place finish in the men's event earlier this year at the SBC Indoor Championships – its best finish since 2010. The Ragin' Cajuns enter the outdoor meet with several athletes ranked among the top 8 in the Sun Belt Conference, highlighted by Ricky Theyard (triple jump) and Bartul Basic (javelin).

Matt Rice (1,500-meters), Hunter Stelley (javelin) and Damon Guidry (high jump) enter the weekend ranked second overall in the Sun Belt Conference in their respective events with Dionte Heath ranked third overall in the high jump. Franz Beyer, the defending decathlon champion, looks to earn a sweep for the Ragin' Cajuns after claiming top honors in the heptathlon at the SBC Indoor Championships.

Distance runner Stanley Limoh enters the meet ranked fifth overall in both the 800-meters and the 5,000-meters and is ranked ninth overall in the 1,500-meters.

Freshman Claire Meyers, who will compete on Friday in the women's javelin, enters the meet ranked second overall in the Sun Belt Conference after posting a throw of 147-2 last month at the LSU Alumni Gold. Meredith Driskell and Alexa Johnson are ranked No. 7 in the SBC in the women's pole vault with Lindsay LaGarde ranked ninth in the 5,000-meters.
