Cajuns Wrap Up at SFA; Open Competition at Pepsi Florida Relays

Lathrop, Monroy claim multi-event titles at SFA; trio of Cajuns with fourth-place finishes at UF
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana's Chase Lathrop captured the men's decathlon in dominant fashion, posting the second-best mark in school history, while Andrea Monroy won the women's heptathlon to lead the Ragin' Cajuns on the final day of the Carl Kight Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Stephen F. Austin, on Friday at Homer Bryce Stadium.

Alaysha Veal, Reem Tammam and Jemar Ferguson each recorded fourth-place finishes in their respective events as Louisiana also opened competition at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida.

CARL KIGHT COLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL
Lathrop extended his Day 1 lead after winning four of five events, including victories in the discus, pole vault and javelin, to finish with 7,093 points — 53 shy of the school record (7,146) set by Chandler Mixon in 2021.

He won the discus with a mark of 130 feet, 9 inches (39.86 meters), the pole vault at 13-7ÂĽ (4.15m) and the javelin at 181-2 (55.22m). He also placed third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.84 seconds) and sixth in the 1,500 meters (5:30.35).

Monroy, who entered the day in second place, took the lead after finishing third in the long jump at 17-2Âľ (5.25m). She maintained the top spot following a sixth-place finish in the javelin (97-3/29.66m) and secured the title with a second-place finish in the 800 meters (2:29.73). She totaled 4,703 points, finishing 183 points ahead of runner-up Alana Rouquette of Stephen F. Austin.

Broderick Davis placed seventh in the 200 meters (21.68) and 12th in the 100 meters (10.76). Matthew Maynard posted a personal-best time of 1:52.77 in the 800 meters, while Ella Segura recorded a personal-best 2:12.72 in the women's 800 meters.

Aniya Hill finished fourth in the women's shot put with a mark of 41-3ÂĽ (12.58m). Macy Dailey (132-0/40.24m) and Ellie Manuel (122-9/37.42m) each posted top-10 finishes in the javelin.

Sam Kinnard finished fourth in the men's javelin with a throw of 170-11 (52.11m).

PEPSI FLORIDA RELAYS
Veal placed fourth in the women's high jump invite, clearing 5-9ÂĽ (1.76m) at Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium.

Tammam finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 19-7½ (5.98m), followed by teammate Daijah Miller at 17-10¼ (5.44m).

Ferguson added a fourth-place finish in the men's javelin with a personal-best throw of 217-0 (66.15m), the third-best mark in program history and surpassing his previous best (216-4) set at the Louisiana Classics.

In distance events, Juliana Courville placed fifth in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:00.75 — the third-fastest mark in program history.

Louisiana placed two athletes in the top 25 of the men's 200 meters, led by Mark Daley (20.94) and followed by Camren Hardy (21.10).

On the women's side, Chaniqua Tonge led the Cajuns in the 200 meters with a time of 24.59, while Amairi Ashford (24.93) and Tijuanique Morton (25.02) also competed.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Hardy, Daley, Mekhi Boutte and Caemon Scott finished seventh in 3:07.62. The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Twyshanna Huie, Hannah Boullion, Quincy Simon and Madison Bailey placed 15th in 3:51.11.

Louisiana clocked a time of 46.06 in the women's 4x100-meter relay prelims.

In the women's 400-meter hurdles, Shenell Tucker led the squad with a time of 1:00.84, followed by Huie at 1:01.10.

Sarah Dupuy placed 15th in the women's javelin with a throw of 140-2 (42.73m), with Emma Bacilla finishing 16th at 137-5 (41.90m).
