Louisiana (16-9, 10-6 SBC), which is coming off a 71-68 defeat at Coastal Carolina on Saturday, is currently fifth in the Sun Belt Conference standings. The top four teams earn a bye in the Sun Belt tournament in March.
Texas State (16-11, 11-5 SBC) is coming off a 74-72 win over Troy on Saturday and sits in fourth place in the Sun Belt Conference. The Bobcats currently hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Cajuns by virtue of a 62-40 win over Louisiana on Jan. 21 in San Marcos, Texas.
The Cajuns can finish in fourth and earn a bye if they win their final two games and if Texas State loses at ULM on Saturday. Louisiana can also earn a bye if they defeat Texas State and UTA while Troy loses to either Arkansas State on Thursday or league-leader Little Rock on Saturday.
Louisiana is led in scoring by senior guard Jaylyn Gordon (18.2 ppg). Gordon leads the Sun Belt Conference in points per game, three-point field goals made per game (2.7) and minutes played per game (38.6).
