The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team returns to action this weekend when it hosts Lamar and Southeastern Louisiana.

Louisiana (1-3) faces Lamar (0-4) on Friday (Sept. 2) in a 6 p.m. match at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility. The Ragin' Cajuns close out the weekend with a home match against Southeastern Louisiana (1-2-1) on Sunday (Sept. 4) at 6 p.m.

Louisiana is coming off a week where it fell in matches to Nicholls State, 3-1, and Southern Miss, 2-1. The Ragin' Cajuns raced out to early leads in both matches before allowing late goals.

The last time Louisiana faced Lamar was in 2014 when the Ragin' Cajuns came away with a 7-2 win in Lafayette.

"Lamar will be competitive," head coach Scot Wieland said. "They have a new coach, who will do a good job with their program. My expectations for my team are that we continue to progress and grow as a team every week."

The first 75 kids aged 12 and under to arrive to the game against Lamar will receive a free Ragin' Cajuns Soccer Ball.

Louisiana fell to Southeastern Louisiana, 3-0, when the teams last squared off in 2014 in Hammond, La. The Ragin' Cajuns will look to flip the script when it hosts the Lions on Sunday at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.

"They are always very competitive," Wieland said of Southeastern Louisiana. "They play very direct, which is always a challenge."

The first 200 fans in attendance receive a #GeauxCajuns sunglasses strap. All fans who show their football ticket stub from the September 3rd game vs. Boise State will be able to purchase a $3 ticket.

Senior forward MacKenzie Higgins leads Louisiana in goals (3) this season while junior forward Ashleigh Cade leads the Cajuns in assists (3) this season.

Louisiana goalkeepers freshman Mackenzie Lee and sophomore Cosette Morche have seen the majority of action in goal this season. Lee has 13 saves on the season while Morche recorded seven saves in her 2016 debut last week against Southern Miss.
