Ragin' Cajuns Makes Final Track Tuneup At Jace Lacoste Invitational

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team will make its final tuneup prior to next month's Sun Belt Conference Championships when it competes on Saturday at Mississippi State University's Jace Lacoste Invitational at the Mike Sanders Track and Field Complex.

Action begins at 8 a.m. with the women's hammer throw and will continue through the men's 4x400-meter relay at 4:15 p.m. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com.

Louisiana, which will host the Sun Belt Conference Championships May 13-15, will be joined in the meet by host Mississippi State along with Division I schools Alabama A&M, Alcorn State, Florida State, Jackson State, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi Valley State, Missouri State, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, UAB and ULM.

The Ragin' Cajuns set a pair of school records last week at the LSU Alumni Gold as Alena Hrusoci (women's 400-meter hurdles) and Morgann Leleux (women's pole vault) each posted the best marks in the Sun Belt Conference en route to being named the league's Student-Athletes of the Week.

Bartul Basic recorded the top mark among SBC athletes in the men's javelin with Danielle Castaldi (women's 800-meters), Tamela Young (women's shot put), Jacob Chicola (men's 3,000-meter steeplechase) and Dylan Heck (men's 3,000-meter steeplechase) all producing their best marks of the season.

Hanoj Carter enters the weekend ranked No. 6 in the Sun Belt in the men's 100-meter dash with Tyler Hughes ranked sixth in the SBC in the men's 110-meter hurdles. The duo will join Bismarck Ebiweh and Jeryl Brazil on the Ragin' Cajuns 4x100-meter relay team as they prepare for the Sun Belt Championships and a return to the NCAA Track and Field Championships.
