Cajuns Set Personal-Bests In Final Tuneup At Jace Lacoste Invitational

Louisiana to host SBC Championships May 13-15
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Bartul Basic finished second overall in the men's javelin and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team set numerous personal-best marks at the Jace Lacoste Invitational on Saturday at the Mike Sanders Track and Field Complex.
Kayla Thompson recorded personal-bests in both the women's 100-meter dash and 200-meters with Claire Hodges (1,500-meter run), Tisay Woodhouse (women's shot put) and Alexa Johnson (pole vault) posting personal-bests in Louisiana's final meet before hosting the Sun Belt Conference Track and Field Championships on May 13-15 at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex.
Basic posted a throw of 218 feet, 9 inches to finish second overall with Cody Nickel (194-1) finishing sixth and Hunter Stelly (193-7) seventh. Kyle Baudoin earned a second-place finish in the pole vault (16-8) with Josh McDaniel finishing seventh (15-7) and Caleb Wisecarver 10th (14-11).
Richard Delphin posted a personal-best mark in the hammer throw (173-3), finishing sixth overall, with Ricky Theyard earning an eighth-place finish in the triple jump (46-4 ¾). Spencer Nezat finished fifth overall in the men's shot put (48-4 ¾) for the Ragin' Cajuns with Delphin (43-9 ¼) finishing seventh and Angus Sinclair (41-3) ninth.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team finished second overall, posting a time of 40.72 and tying the third-best mark in the Sun Belt Conference. Tyler Hughes earned a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (14.31) with Hanoj Carter finishing sixth overall in the 200-meter dash (21.28).
Thompson clocked a time of 11.99 in the 100-meters to finish seventh and 24.68 in the 200-meters finishing ninth. Hodges clocked a time of 4:41.72 to set a personal-best in the 1,500-meters with Courtney Musgrove finishing 10th (4:45.98). In the women's 4x100-meter relay, Louisiana finished fifth overall (46.77) while Alena Hrusoci finished ninth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.24).
Jasmin Fusilier recorded a fifth-place performance in the long jump (18-9 ¾) with Tamela Young finishing sixth in the shot put (45-2 ½) with Woodhouse finishing sixth with a personal-best mark of 44-3 ½.
