Track Heads To Baton Rouge For LSU Alumni Gold

Cajuns gearing up for next month's Sun Belt Championships
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team returns to action on Saturday when it heads east to Baton Rouge to compete in the LSU Alumni Gold at Bernie Moore Track Stadium.

Action begins in the morning session with the start of the "B" section finals in track at 8:30 a.m., before the first field events start at 9. The afternoon session begins at 1:20 p.m. and runs through the 4x400-meter relays at 4:20.

Louisiana will join host LSU in the meet that will feature Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Arizona, Clemson and Iowa State. Rounding out the collegiate field will be Akron, Connecticut, Hinds Community College, ULM, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, Meridian Community College, New Orleans, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Miss, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Tulane.

Two members for the Ragin' Cajuns – Bartul Basic (men's javelin) and Morgann Leleux (women's pole vault) – have produced the top marks among Sun Belt Conference athletes in their respective events, with Kyle Baudoin (men's pole vault) and Franz Beyer (men's high jump) rated second.

Alena Hrusoci (women's 400-meter hurdles) and Alexandra Harrell (women's high jump), both ranked third in the SBC, are scheduled to compete for Louisiana along with Hanoj Carter (men's 100-meter dash), Tyler Hughes (men's 110-meter hurdles), Beau Robinson (men's 5,000-meter run), Claire Hodges (women's 1,500-meter run) and Danielle Castaldi (women's 800-meter run).

Jasmin Fusilier, who is ranked second in the SBC in the women's heptathlon, is scheduled to compete in four events for Louisiana – the long jump, triple jump, 100-meter hurdles and 4x100-meter relay.
