Cajuns Head To Hammond For SLU Lion Invitational

First of three meets for Cajuns prior to SBC Championships
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team begins its final trek leading into next month's Sun Belt Conference Championships when it travels to Hammond to compete in the Southeastern Lion Invitational at the SLU Track Complex.

Action began Friday afternoon with the men's and women's hammer throw. The meet then moves to the Southeastern Track Complex on Saturday with the field events starting at 10:30 a.m. and the running events beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Louisiana joins host SLU in the meet which also includes ULM, Lamar, McNeese State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Dillard, Loyola, Tulane, West Alabama and Xavier. Live stats will be available at RaginCajuns.com.

The Ragin' Cajuns, who will travel to meets at LSU and Mississippi State before hosting the SBC Championships on May 13-15, return to action after competing last week at the Auburn Tiger Track Classic. Morgan Cormier posted a season-best time in the men's 400-meter hurdles (53.47) for the Ragin' Cajuns with Alena Hrusoci finishing 11th overall in the women's 400-meter dash (55.14).

Kyle Baudoin, who is ranked 13th nationally in the pole vault, will be among a large contingent competing for Louisiana along with Bartul Basic in the men's javelin. Alexandra Harrell, ranked 3rd in the Sun Belt Conference in the women's high jump, set a season-best last week at the Tiger Track Classic (5-7) with Lindsey Harmon tying her season-best mark at 5-5.

Senior Jasmin Fusilier, currently ranked 8th in the Sun Belt Conference in the women's long, posted a season-best for the Ragin' Cajuns last week with Madison Meche and Chelcie Sonnier, ranked fourth and sixth, respectively among SBC athletes in the women's javelin.
