MOBILE, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team will look to get back on track this week as the squad tees off at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate starting Monday at the par-72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.
Â
The 54-hole event gets underway Monday at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. Teams will play 36-holes on the first day with the second round to start immediately following the completion of round one. The third and final round will start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday with players starting off of holes one and ten.
Â
"We are anxious to get back at it here in Mobile," head coach Theo Sliman said. "We haven't competed here in a couple of years, and really like the course set up. We will see two new comers compete with Ryan (Desormeaux) and Grant (Welch). This is a very strong field. This event will be a great opportunity for all on the team to step up their competitiveness as we turn right around and have our home event next week."
Â
Host South Alabama, No. 1 Auburn, No. 2 Wake Forest, Chattanooga, Eastern Michigan, Georgia State, Illinois State, Kansas State, Louisiana, Mercer, Middle Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Texas State make up the 15-team field.
Â
Haraldur Magnus, Fernando Cruz Valle, Triston Elston, Andres Navarette and Ross Davis get the start for the Ragin' Cajuns at the event. Both Desormeaux and Welch will compete as individuals in the annual USA Individual Tournament.
Â
Magnus has a top 25 finish in all but one event this season and leads the squad with a 71.53 scoring average through 17 rounds.
Â
The Cajuns are paired with Chattanooga and Mississippi State for the first two rounds. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
