Soccer Eliminated From Sun Belt Tournament By App State

Foley, Ala. – The fifth-seeded Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team was eliminated from the Sun Belt Conference tournament by fourth-seeded Appalachian State, 3-0 on Wednesday at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex.

Louisiana (8-9-2, 4-4-2 SBC) held Appalachian State (10-7-2, 4-4-2 SBC) scoreless in the first half, but the Mountaineers used three second half goals to pull away from the Ragin' Cajuns.

Appalachian State scored in the 58^th minute on a goal by Jackie Nieradka from 20 yards out off an assist by Jane Cline.

Erin Settle scored her seventh goal of the season for the Mountaineers in the 66^th minute off an assist by Nieradka.

Appalachian State extended their lead in the 77^th minute on a goal by Maggie Hanusek from the left wing. Sarah Peatross was credited with the assist.

The Mountaineers held a 14-9 advantage in shots, with nine coming on goal. The Ragin' Cajuns had five shots on goal, but couldn't get a ball past Appalachian State goalkeeper Sam Steyl.

Louisiana sophomore goalkeeper Cosette Morché had six saves in the match to finish the season with 89 saves.
