Ragin' Cajuns Host West Florida In Exhibition Game At Blackham

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team gets closer to its official 2016-17 opener when it plays host to West Florida in an exhibition game on Thursday at Blackham Coliseum.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and admission is free. Live stats will be available at RaginCajuns.com.

Louisiana, which finished 19-15 last season under head coach Bob Marlin, returns three starters and five players from last year's team. Johnathan Stove (8.9 ppg.), Jay Wright (8.9 ppg.) and Bryce Washington (8.7 ppg.) are the top returners for the Ragin' Cajuns with Scott Plaisance and Jacob Broussard seeing limited time in 2015-16.

Junior college transfer Larenz Stalcup will look to be part of a group that will replace four-time All-SBC pick Shawn Long. BYU transfer Frank Bartley along with redshirt freshmen Jerekius Davis and Kadavion Evans will look to contribute for the Ragin' Cajuns this season with freshmen Roydell Brown, P.J. Hardy and Justin Miller set to make their collegiate debut.

West Florida returns seven players from 2015-16, and has eight new players joining the team for 2016-17. UWF is coming off a 7-19 season, including a 5-17 performance in the Gulf South Conference.

Louisiana will officially tip off the season on Nov. 11 at Minnesota and will travel to face Montana State (Nov. 14) before opening its home schedule on Nov. 17 against Panhandle State at Blackham Coliseum.
