LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team will put its six-game win streak on the line as the squad faces a pair of in-state opponents in the mid-week to close out the non-conference slate starting Tuesday.

The Cajuns (28-15, 13-7 Sun Belt) head to Thibodaux, La. Tuesday to face Nicholls State in a 6 p.m. contest at Didier Field. Following the matchup with the Colonels, the Ragin' Cajuns will host New Orleans at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Louisiana comes into the week having swept UT Arlington over the weekend. The Cajuns have won 13 of their last 15 contests including a 3-1 record in mid-week games with the only blemish coming in a 5-3 home loss to Southeastern Louisiana.

Junior shortstop Blake Trahan continues to lead the team in hitting with a .374 average including a team-best 13 doubles and 15 stolen bases. Trahan is one of five players on the squad hitting .300 or better on the season. Junior outfielder Kyle Clement was recently named one of the Louisville Slugger National Players of the Week after going 10-for-21 with three doubles, 3 home runs and nine RBI. Clement provided the game-winning RBI in four the five Cajuns wins last week.

The Ragin' Cajuns lead the all-time series with Nicholls State 69-52-1 despite dropping a 3-1 decision to the Colonels earlier this season. Louisiana has won 17 of the last 22 meetings in the series.

Louisiana also holds a 79-68 edge in the all-time series against New Orleans. The Privateers snapped a nine-game win streak in the series for the Cajuns last year pulling off an 8-7 upset at the "Tigue".

Nicholls State (24-16-1, 11-10 Southland) comes into the contest having lost two of three games at McNeese State over the weekend. The Colonels fell 9-1 in the opener before winning 13-1. NSU was edged out 5-4 in the series finale with the Cowboys.

The Colonels have the sixth lowest ERA in the country (2.42) allowing 98 earned runs through 41 games. Offensively, Nicholls State is hitting .251 with 48 doubles, 16 triples and nine home runs.

Kyle Reese is the only player on the squad hitting over .300 on the year with a .331 average to go with 13 doubles, two triples, a homer and 18 RBI.

New Orleans (13-29, 3-18 Southland) has lost three straight contests coming into the week after getting swept on the road at Central Arkansas. The Privateers will face Jackson State on Tuesday before coming to the "Tigue" on Wednesday to close out a five-game road trip.

UNO is hitting .263 on the season led by Matt Rykaczewski who has a .318 average. Jonathan Coco is second on the club batting .314 with six doubles and 17 RBI.
