SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team returns to conference action this weekend as the squad faces Texas State in a three-game series starting Friday at 6 p.m. at Bobcat Ballpark.

The second game of the series is slated for 3 p.m. on Saturday, while the series finale is Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Cajuns (21-14, 8-6 Sun Belt) had their six-game win streak snapped on Tuesday with a 5-3 home loss to Southeastern Louisiana. The Ragin' Cajuns recorded its second sweep of the season last weekend against Jackson State.

Louisiana will hand the ball to freshman left-hander Gunner Leger (3-2, 3.63 ERA) for the fourth consecutive Friday, while freshman right-hander Evan Guillory (3-0, 3.75 ERA) will make the start Saturday as senior Greg Milhorn out due to an injury. Sunday's starter has yet to be announced.

As a team, the Cajuns are second in the league with a 3.50 ERA and are third in hitting with a .282 average. Junior Blake Trahan is fifth in the SBC in hitting with a .260 average and 49 hits including 11 doubles.

Both Trahan and Stefan Trosclair are riding conference-hit streaks coming into the series with Trahan having recorded at least one hit in all 14 SBC games this season. Troclair is on a nine-game conference hit streak. He is hitting .343 on the year with a team-best six home runs and 20 RBI.

Tyler Girouard is second on the squad in hitting with a .348 average, 10 doubles, two homers and 16 RBI. Girouard has reached base in all 14 league games this season.

The Ragin' Cajuns hold a 12-6 edge in the series having won four of the five meetings a year ago. Louisiana defeated the Bobcats twice at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament to extend its win streak in the series to three games.

Texas State (17-18-1, 9-6 Sun Belt) is currently fifth in Sun Belt standings and has lost three of its last five decisions falling to UTSA in the mid-week 10-8 after dropping two of three to UALR last weekend. The Bobcats have the ninth rated pitching staff in the league with a 4.86 ERA.

Right-hander Lucas Humpal (4-3, 5.19 ERA) gets the nod for Texas State on Friday. The Bobcats close out the weekend with two more right-handers, Scott Grist (2-3, 4.07 ERA) and Jeremy Hallonquist (4-0, 2.05 ERA), on Saturday and Sunday.
