LAFAYETTE, La. – Coming off of a series win at Georgia State, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team will face McNeese State and Nicholls State in a pair of mid-week games starting Tuesday.

The Cajuns (12-8, 5-3 Sun Belt) open the week with their sixth straight road contest as they take on the Cowboys (16-8, 6-3 Southland). First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Cowboy Diamond.

Following the McNeese State game, the Ragin' Cajuns head back to M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field for a 6 p.m. contest with Nicholls State (12-10, 4-5 Southland) on Wednesday.

Freshman right-hander Wyatt Marks will make his first career start for the Cajuns against the Cowboys. Marks is 1-0 on the year in five appearances with a 2.35 ERA and 11 strikeouts.

Left-hander Connor Toups gets the nod against NSU for his second start of the season. Toups went three innings allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts against Northwestern State earlier this year.

The Ragin' Cajuns have the top offense in the Sun Belt hitting .289 as a team led by junior All-American shortstop Blake Trahan. Trahan has a league leading .416 average with 10 doubles a home run and 13 RBI. The junior also leads the SBC with a .520 on base percentage.

Senior Greg Davis has a team-best 17 RBI while hitting .319 after going 6-for-13 (.462) with two RBI at Georgia State.

The Cajuns lead the all-time series with McNeese State, 90-63. The Cowboys won the only meeting between the two squads this year taking a 5-4 decision in 17 innings.

Louisiana holds a 69-51-1 edge in the all-time series with the Colonels carrying a three-game win streak into the contest. The Ragin' Cajuns have won 17 of the last 21 meetings with Nicholls State.

McNeese State comes into the contest having lost two of three games to Abilene Christian over the weekend. The Cowboys had won four straight games prior to the series with Wildcats.

The Cowboys are slated to start senior right-hander Cory LaPeze. LaPeze is making his first start of the season and has yet to register a decision in 11 appearances. The senior has a 1.62 ERA in 16.2 innings with three saves and 17 strikeouts.

Offensively, Joe Provenzano paces the squad with a .367 average as MSU has three players batting over .300. Andrew Guillotte ranks second on the team hitting .350 with six doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI.

Nicholls State closed out the weekend with a 4-3 victory at Sam Houston State after dropping the first two games of the series. The Colonels are hitting .233 as a club but have a 2.24 ERA, which leads the Southland Conference and ranks tenth in the nation.

Senior right-hander Ryan Deemes will make the start for NSU boasting a team best 0.63 ERA in seven appearances including three starts. Deemes has 31 strikeouts in 28.2 innings with only six walks.

Kyle Reese leads Nicholls State offensively hitting .321 with seven doubles, two triples and six RBI. Tanner Vandevere and Christian Correa are tied for the team lead in RBI with 10.

After the pair of mid-week games, the Ragin' Cajuns will host conference foe Arkansas State in a three-game series at the "Tigue" starting Friday at 6 p.m.
