ATLANTA – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team will close out an eight-game conference stretch this weekend as the Cajuns face Georgia State in a three-game series at the GSU Baseball Complex.

Game one of the series is slated for Friday at 5 p.m. CT. The two teams will meet again on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT before closing out the weekend on Sunday at noon CT.

Friday's contest will be broadcast live on ESPN 1420-AM with Jay Walker making the call. Radio coverage will switch over to News Talk 96.5 KPEL-FM for the final two games of the series. Live stats are available on RaginCajuns.com.

The Ragin' Cajuns (10-7, 3-2 Sun Belt) are coming off of two tough losses to conference foe UALR on the road in a rain-shortened series. The Cajuns had won six straight prior to the series with the Trojans.

Freshman right-hander Evan Guillory (1-0) will look to pick up his first win in five games as he is tabbed with the start on Friday, while freshman left-hander Gunner Leger (2-0) will take the bump on Saturday. Senior right-hander Greg Milhorn (0-0) will make the start on Sunday.

Louisiana leads the conference in hitting with a .285 average led by Blake Trahan who has a .431 average. Trahan leads the league in doubles with nine and ranks top 10 in hits, average, slugging, on base percentage, runs, total bases, walks and steals. The junior All-American is riding an eight-game hit streak after going 4-for-5 with five walks at UALR.

The Cajuns also boast the fourth best ERA (3.58) in the Sun Belt and the second best opponents' batting average limiting teams to a .232 average.

Georgia State (13-7, 2-0 Sun Belt) is the only undefeated team remaining in conference play having won a pair of games at Arkansas State in a rain shortened series. The Panthers defeated Florida A&M 12-11 in 11 innings before dropping a 7-3 decision at Savannah State in the mid-week.

The Panthers have one of the best offenses in the Sun Belt ranking first in runs scored, slugging and home runs. Ryan Blanton, the reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week, paces the offensive attack hitting .385 with two triples, four home runs and 13 RBI. Matt Rose has a team-best seven home runs and 23 RBI as GSU has hit 19 homers as a team.

Junior right-hander Nathan Bates (2-0) will make the start on Friday for the Panthers. Senior lefty Kenny Anderson (2-1) is slated to start on Saturday with junior right-hander Cole Uvila (0-2) getting the nod to start Sunday.

Bates leads the squad with a 2.67 ERA in 30.1 innings and a team-best 27 strikeouts as he is holding opponents to a .204 average.

The only previous meeting between the Cajuns and Panthers came a year ago at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field with Louisiana sweeping a three-game series.

Following the series at Georgia State, the Cajuns will head to McNeese State on Tuesday at 6 p.m. to close out a nine-game road swing.
