Ragin’ Cajuns Baseball Preview: Pitchers

LAFAYETTE, La. – As we near the first pitch of the 2015 season, we fittingly take a look at the pitching staff of the Louisiana baseball team in today's preview. The Ragin' Cajuns biggest challenge of the year will be replacing the entire weekend rotation from a season ago.
 
Starters
 
Chris Charpentier, Evan Guillory and Greg Milhorn have been tabbed to the weekend rotation heading into the series against UTSA. Milhorn has the most experience of the group having made six starts in 2014 going 5-2 and posting two saves. Charpentier's only start of the season came in the NCAA Regionals against Jackson State.
 
Newcomers Gunner Leger, Wyatt Marks, and Will Bacon as well as sophomore Connor Toups are also in the mix to start on the mound for the Cajuns. Toups made one start in seven appearances a year ago. 
 
Relievers
 
In the bullpen, Louisiana will have sophomore Reagan Bazar to lean on late in games. Bazar posted six saves in 25 appearances while registering a 2.27 ERA and a 4-0 record in 31.2 innings.
 
Joining Bazar this season will be newcomers Colton Lee, Logan Stoelke, Eric Carter, Dylan Moore and redshirt-freshman Trace Guidry. Lee and Carter are junior college transfers who come in with college experience.
 
Nick Zaunbrecher, Toups, Riley Cooper, Blaine Suehs and Ty Ewart will be looked to in middle relief situations. Zaunbrecher has logged the most innings of the group with 20.1 in two seasons. Cooper notched 10.1 innings in 15 appearances, while Toups had 9.0 in seven outings.
 
The Cajuns open the season on Friday at 6 p.m. in the first of three games against UTSA in San Antonio, Texas at Roadrunner Park. Louisiana's home opener is Feb. 20-22 against Stony Brook at M.L.
