LAFAYETTE, La. – The fifth-ranked Louisiana baseball team will look to extend its nine-game win streak this weekend as the Cajuns host conference newcomer Georgia State in a three-game series at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field starting Friday at 6 p.m. The series marks the opening of a nine-game homestand at the Tigue.

The second game of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m., while first pitch of the series finale will be Sunday at 1 p.m.

Louisiana (19-2, 3-0 Sun Belt) is coming off of a pair of midweek victories against Nicholls State including a 7-1 win on the road in 11 innings at Didier Field in Thibodaux, La.

Blake Trahan and Seth Harrison lead the team offensively as they are both hitting .342 on the year. The Ragin' Cajuns have had nine or more hits in the last 12 games, while seven players on the team have posted double digit RBI this season led by Jace Conrad with 22.

Junior Austin Robichaux will make the start in the series opener. Robichaux has posted a complete game in his last two starts and comes into the contest with a 3-1 record and a 1.66 ERA. The Crowley, La., native ranks 12th in the nation with 39 strikeouts.

Carson Baranik is slated to make the start on Saturday. Baranik has made five straight quality starts with a 4-0 record with a 0.70 ERA which ranks 27th in the country coming into the week. The Cajuns have posted a shutout in three of the Baranik's five starts. Sunday's starter has yet to be announced.

The Cajuns are 9-2 at home this year winning all four series at the Tigue. The squad opened its current win streak with a sweep of Texas Southern at home. With one win, Louisiana would equal its season-high 10-game win streak that lasted from Feb. 15-March 1.

This is the first meeting between the Cajuns and Panthers (10-11. 1-2 Sun Belt). Louisiana is 0-1 against opponents from Georgia falling to Georgia Tech 8-0 in the NCAA Mideast Regional in 1997.

The Ragin' Cajuns and Panthers lead the conference in almost all of the offensive categories. Louisiana is ranked first in runs (153), RBI (141), on base percentage (.398), triples (11) and stolen bases (35), while Georgia State ranks first in average (.301), slugging percentage (.468), hits (222), doubles (52) and home runs (23).

The Panthers have lost three straight games headed into the series falling to Georgia Tech in a midweek game, 9-4, after losing two out three to WKU in the opening weekend of Sun Belt play. GSU is 3-3 on the road this year and hasn't been away from the GSU Baseball Complex since March 4.

Georgia State's Nic Wilson leads the Sun Belt in average (.427), hits (35), doubles (9), home runs (8), RBI (26), slugging percentage (.829) and on base percentage (.495).

The Panthers will start a trio of lefties this weekend with Kenny Anderson (2-1, 4.26 ERA) starting on Friday, Garrett Ford (0-0, 4.58 ERA) on Saturday and Andrew Fessler (1-2, 7.40 ERA) wrapping up the weekend.

All three games can be heard on News Talk 96.5 KPEL-FM with Scott Prather making the call. Live stats and streaming video are available on RaginCajuns.com.

Saturday's game will be broadcast on myKLAF-TV with Dan McDonald making the call and Gerald Broussard providing color. The broadcast can also be seen on ESPN3.com in selected areas.

Folloring the GSU series, the Ragin' Cajuns continue their nine-game homestand on Tuesday when they host in-state foe Northwestern State at 6 p.m. at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
