LAFAYETTE-The Cajuns belted out four homeruns en route to downing the Texas Southern Tigers Tuesday night at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field. UL Lafayette improves to 11-6 overall with the win.

Cajuns lefty Brandt Sanders accepted the win for Louisiana-Lafayette pitching his scheduled three innings without surrendering a hit. Sanders (1-1) sat five Tigers with strikeouts.

Clint Young took the loss for Texas Southern allowing four runs on six hits in three innings.

Sanders started the game on the mound for UL Lafayette and struck out the first five of nine Tigers hitters he faced.

The Cajuns played small ball to get baserunners in the third. John Coker bunted for a single to open the inning before moving over to second on a Justin Merendino bunt single. Brad Saloom loaded the bases with a bloop single to right. Coker scored on a wild pitch. Dallas Morris brought the next two runners across with his fifth homerun of the season. Morris's longball sailed over the wall in left center wall giving the Cajuns a 4-0 lead.

Ian Pecoraro pitched the fourth retiring the side and picking up a pair of strikeouts.

Jeffries Tatford reached base on an error before a Coker drew a walk on a full count. Brad Saloom reached on a error loading the bases. Morris singled to right scoring Tatford and giving the Cajuns a 5-0 advantage. Ryan Core and Micah Cockrell both walked to score two more runs.

Pecoraro stayed in to work the fifth recording two more strikeouts.

Cajuns righty Jeff Morgan worked the sixth and retired two more Tigers at the plate.

Morris walked and later swiped second to open the bottom of the sixth. Morris moved over to third and then scored on a pair of wild pitches increasing the Cajuns lead to 8-0.

Kevin Preau singled down the right field line with no outs to open the bottom of the seventh just before Rhett Buras went deep and gone to center with a two run shot. Justin Bourque followed suit with a solo homerun to right bringing the score to 11-0.

Bubba Oliver saw action in the eighth, picking up the Cajuns 12th strikeout of the contest.

Buras added his second homerun of the evening in the Cajuns half of inning eight. The two-run blast gave the Cajuns a 13-0 lead.

Patrick Green pitched the top of the ninth for Louisiana-Lafayette retiring the side in order.

The Cajuns will have a look at two schools this weekend that Louisiana-Lafayette has never faced. UL Lafayette will take on the Michigan Wolverines Friday night at 6:30 at Moore Field before entertaining the Harvard University Crimson Saturday at 2:05 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the “Tigue”.

Bonus action will be available for baseball fans this weekend as Michigan will play Harvard here in Lafayette Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Tickets for Saturday and Sunday's games will be all-day tickets and can be used for admission to both games on each day.
