Oliver Houston IV enters his third season as the Director of Athletic Performance for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Basketball, Volleyball, and Women's Tennis teams. Houston joined the Louisiana Athletics Department in June 2021 after spending the past two seasons at Texas Tech.
Houston played an integral part in the work off the court that led the 2022-23 men's basketball team to a Sun Belt Conference Championship and return to the NCAA Tournament. He was also instrumental in the development of the volleyball team that reached postseason play for the first time in program history in 2022. His programs have helped lead women's tennis student-athletes Carla Urchoeguia, Cristina Tchanichev, and Angelique Berrat to double digit win seasons and staying healthy on the court.
Houston worked as a Strength and Conditioning Assistant for Men's Basketball at TTU for the 2020-21 season under head coach Chris Beard.
A two-sport athlete at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Houston completed his second stint with the Red Raiders after working as an intern in 2018. He returned to Lubbock midway through the 2019-20 season to work with John Reilly and the Red Raiders.
A Garland, Texas native, Houston worked as a sport performance coach at the Sports Performance Center at The Star from 2018-20 following his internship at Tech. He also had a two-year internship with the Dallas Mavericks as an Athletic Performance Intern from 2016-18.
Houston helped the UMHB football team to four straight American Southwest Conference titles as a wide receiver for the Cru and would play for the basketball team during the 2015-16. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2016.
