Ragin' Cajuns wrap up opening weekend of SBC play with second trip to North Louisiana
MONROE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team closes out the opening weekend of its 2025-26 Sun Belt Conference schedule on Saturday when it visits ULM at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game will be available on ESPN+ with fans able to listen to the game in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
Making its second trip to North Louisiana in a span of seven days, Louisiana (1-11, 0-1 Sun Belt) returns to action after opening league play with a 62-54 setback at Southern Miss on Thursday. Dorian Finister scored a game-high 20 points – his second 20-point game of the season – to lead the Ragin' Cajuns with Jaxon Olvera adding 12 points.
Finister, the lone player to start in all 12 games for Louisiana, joins Olvera as the team leader in both points (12.3) and rebounds (4.8). Freshman Joshua Lewis (6.3) and De'Vion Lavergne (6.1) are next in scoring for Louisiana.
ULM (3-9, 0-1 Sun Belt) opened league play on Wednesday with a 96-92 double overtime loss to South Alabama. MJ Russell leads the Warhawks in scoring at 17.6 points per game with Krystian Lewis adding 15.6 points, highlighted by a 29-point performance against South Alabama with eight 3-pointers.
Louisiana leads the all-time series that dates back to the 1953-54 season, 65-25, and has won nine of the last 10 meetings. The teams last met in the opening round of the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Championships with Louisiana claiming a 73-69 overtime victory.
