Louisiana to compete in 5K, 4-mile events in second meet of the season
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Cross Country returns to the course on Saturday when the Ragin' Cajuns travel to Lake Charles to compete in the annual McNeese Cowboy Stampede at the Enos Derbonne Multi-Sport Complex.
The women's 5K race will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the men's 4-mile race starting at 9 a.m. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com.
The meet marks Louisiana's second competition of the season after the Cajuns opened the 2026 campaign Sept. 11 at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station, Texas.
Returning All-Sun Belt Conference performers Isabelle Russell and Matthew Maynard led the way for Louisiana at Texas A&M, with the women placing sixth in a 15-team field and the men finishing 10th.
Russell made her 2026 debut with a 17th-place finish in the women's 5K, crossing the finish line in 17 minutes, 58.0 seconds. Ella Segura followed in 24th at 18:10.3, while Angelle Dupuis placed 27th in 18:12.9.
Maynard paced the Cajuns in the men's race with a 26th-place finish in 25:19.4. Peyton Bourgeois followed in 26:06.3, with freshmen Taylor Roller (26:29.1) and Rowan Silk (26:54.6), along with Jackson Jarrett (27:04.7), rounding out Louisiana's top five finishers.
Louisiana and host McNeese will be joined in the five-team Division I field by Northwestern State, Southern and Incarnate Word.
