Louisiana women finish sixth in 5K race; men place 10th in 8K event
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Returning All-Sun Belt Conference performers Isabelle Russell and Matthew Maynard each led the way as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns cross country teams opened the 2026 season Friday at the Texas A&M Invitational at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course.

The Louisiana women placed sixth in the 15-team field with 149 points, led by Russell's 17th-place finish in the 5K. Russell crossed the finish line in 17 minutes, 58.0 seconds, while Ella Segura followed in 24th at 18:10.3 and Angelle Dupuis placed 27th in 18:12.9.

Brooke Berger made her Louisiana debut with a 35th-place finish in 18:26.6, followed by Chloe Crowell in 57th at 19:02.6. Elizabeth Stamey, in her Louisiana debut, placed 77th in 19:28.6, while Skylar Delgado rounded out the Ragin' Cajuns' finishers in 87th at 20:01.8.

SMU claimed the women's team title with 21 points, followed by host Texas A&M with 81 and Houston with 114. Louisiana finished ahead of Texas, which placed seventh with 166 points.
In the men's 8K, Louisiana finished 10th with 286 points, with Maynard leading the Ragin' Cajuns with a 26th-place finish in 25:19.4.

Peyton Bourgeois was next for Louisiana, placing 54th in 26:06.3, while freshman Taylor Roller finished 70th in 26:29.1. Freshman Rowan Silk placed 81st in 26:54.6, followed by Jackson Jarrett in 86th at 27:04.7. Reed Boudreaux rounded out the Louisiana team scoring in 114th with a time of 28:21.2.

Stephen F. Austin captured the men's team title with 39 points, followed by Texas with 58 and TCU with 72.

Louisiana returns to action Saturday, Sept. 26, traveling to Lake Charles to compete in the McNeese Cowboy Stampede.
