Louisiana hosts nationally-ranked Golden Eagles in key SBC series
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Baseball closes out the first half of its 2026 Sun Belt Conference schedule when the Ragin' Cajuns host No. 10-ranked Southern Miss in a three-game series beginning Friday at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
First pitch for Friday's opener is set for 6 p.m. The series continues on Saturday at 2 p.m., with the series finale set for Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games will be available on ESPN+ with fans able to listen locally on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.

Louisiana (19-14, 4-8 SBC) looks to secure its first SBC series since taking two of three from South Alabama last month before dropping series against Texas State, ULM and James Madison. The Ragin' Cajuns look to turn around a 3-9 record since an extra-inning victory at Big 12 Houston on March 18.
Lee Amedee (.345-2-19) leads the team in average, RBI, slugging percentage (.531) and on-base percentage (.472) while hitting safely in his last 13 games. Rigoberto Hernandez, coming off a three-hit game on Wednesday at Southeastern Louisiana, is hitting .291 with freshmen Colt Brown (.278-1-16) and Noah Lewis (.276-0-3) following.
Freshman Sawyer Pruitt (2-2, 2.72 ERA) will start on the mound in Friday's opener for Louisiana with left-hander Andrew Herrmann (3-2, 3.62 ERA) scheduled to pitch on Saturday. The Cajuns' starter for Sunday is to be determined.
USM (24-9, 7-5 SBC) plays its second SBC series on the road in as many weeks after taking two of three last weekend at Old Dominion. The Golden Eagles, ranked in the top-15 in all five major polls, claimed a 3-2 win over New Orleans on Tuesday.
Kyle Morrison, a transfer from SBC school South Alabama, leads USM at the plate with a .358 average, 10 home runs and 31 RBI. Joey Urban (.325-9-29) and Davis Gillespie (.317-8-25) have combined for 17 home runs with Seth Smith (.317-1-18) fourth on the team in hitting.
