The Ragin' Cajuns enter Wednesday looking to bounce back after seeing a season-best nine-match winning streak halted in a 4-2 loss to Texas State on Sunday during ITA College Tennis Weekend at Cajun Courts. Louisiana had battled back to even the match at 2-2 before the Bobcats secured the final two singles points.
Despite the setback, the weekend also featured a milestone moment for the program. Louisiana defeated Georgia Southern, 4-2, on Friday behind a 4-1 run in singles play — a victory that marked the 100th career win for head coach Stephanie Vallejos.
Louisiana has been powered throughout the season by strong singles play. Angelique Berrat leads the team with a 10-1 singles record on Court 1, tying her career-high for wins in a single season, while Ana Martinez Vaquero stands at 9-1 and Martina Della Gora carries a 9-2 mark. As a team, the Ragin' Cajuns own a 45-23 singles record in dual-match play this season.
In doubles, the tandem of Berrat and Nina Krecklenberg hold a team-leading eight victories.
NSU enters the contest after a 7–0 sweep of Stephen F. Austin, the squad's second straight victory. Martina Acebedo leads the way in singles with an 11-2 mark while in doubles play the Lady Demons sport a winning mark on all three courts paced by Acebedo and Athina Grigoriadou's five wins on Court 3.
Wednesday's contest concludes a stretch of five consecutive home matches that began on March 14. Louisiana opened the run with sweeps of Southern Miss (4-0) and Southeastern Louisiana (7-0) before splitting matches against Georgia Southern and Texas State during the ITA weekend event.
The Ragin' Cajuns and Lady Demons last met in February 2020 at Cajun Courts, where Louisiana claimed a 4-1 victory. Under Vallejos' watch, the two programs split their previous four meetings.
