Louisiana and SMU Set for Men's Tennis Bout Sunday in Dallas

Match completes January portion of Ragin' Cajuns spring schedule
DALLAS - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team continues its challenging early season schedule on Sunday, January 18 in Dallas facing ACC foe SMU at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.

Louisiana (1-1) is coming off a split of opening weekend in matches in Orlando which included a meeting with No. 14 UCF last Sunday.
This Sunday's match is the last outing in January for the Ragin' Cajuns who will have three weeks off before returning to play on February 7 at Southern.

It's the first time Louisiana and SMU meet since a March 2014 matchup at the H-E-B Tournament of Champions in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Newcomers Nikola Kolyachev (Indiana transfer) and David Simeonov (UIndy transfer) led UL in singles during opening weekend, the duo accounting for three of the four singles triumphs. Kolyachev was triumphant both times on Court 6 and the two were the first to finish vs. FGCU providing Louisiana a commanding 3-0 lead in the season opener.
The Ragin' Cajuns found success on all three courts in doubles action last weekend in Orlando, each pair winning at least once. Doubles No.1 tandem Mason Landreth and Leonard Tramolay closed within 5-4 against UCF as Louisiana challenged the nationally ranked Knights for the doubles point.
SMU (1-1) split its season opener doubleheader with a 6-1 win over Lamar after falling 5-2 to No. 7 Mississippi State on January 10 at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex. Jerry Barton was named ACC Player of the Week after his win over Mississippi State's No. 34-ranked singles player.
