After singles starts with a split, Mustangs pull away
DALLAS - A Sunday afternoon men's tennis tilt in the Dalls-Fort Worth metroplex area ended in SMU's favor as the Mustangs posted a 6-1 win over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team on January 18 at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.
The Ragin' Cajuns (1-2) faced another early season tough challenge as SMU (2-2) was the second straight P4 opponent faced following last Sunday's contest at No. 14 UCF.
Louisiana No. 1 doubles tandem of Mason Landreth and Leonard Tramolay extended play on Court 1 forging a 5-all tie and on Court 2 it was David Simeonov and Samuel Kyjaci locked in a 5-4 battle before the Mustangs fought off the Ragin' Cajuns on Court 1 and clinched the point.
Kyjaci's win at No. 6 singles got UL on the board and trimmed SMU's match lead to 2-1. The Mustangs wouldn't relinquish the lead as they finished off straight sets sweeps on the remaining courts.
With Kyjaci's win the Ragin' Cajuns remained unbeaten on Court 6 this season. Kyaci improved to 2-1 in singles play and collected his first straight sets sweep.
