Ragin' Cajuns Finish With Split on Opening Weekend

Louisiana goes the distance with 14th-ranked UCF on four courts in singles
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team battled to a third set on four of the six singles court against No. 14 UCF on Sunday, January 11 at the USTA National Campus before the Knights recorded a 6-1 victory.
The Ragin' Cajuns, who scored a 4-3 win over Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, finished with a split on their season-opening weekend trip to Orlando.
Louisiana (1-1) challenged UCF (2-0) for the doubles point on the deciding Court 1 as Mason Landreth and Leonard Tramolay closed within 5-4 on Yassine Dlimi and Paul Colin.
The Knights kept momentum on their side with straight set sweeps on Courts 5 and 3 in singles action to open a 3-0 edge. Landreth, Tramolay, David Simeonov and Nikola Kolyachev each recorded a set win to keep the Ragin' Cajuns chances of victory alive.
UCF clinched the match on Court 4 when Oliveira Nicolas was the first of the Knights to claim an extended match with a rebounding 6-2 win over Simeonov. Kolyachev got UL on the scoreboard after he recorded a come-from-behind 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) win over Luca Hotze on Court 6.
