The Ragin’ Cajuns play three of their final four matches at home

LAFAYETTE – After wrapping up a three-match road trip, the Louisiana women's tennis team returns to Cajun Courts on Friday at 10 a.m. for a crucial Sun Belt showdown against No. 41 Old Dominion. The Ragin' Cajuns then host James Madison at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

The Cajuns (9-6, 2-4 SBC) head into the weekend aiming to build on their 4-1 win over Southern Miss last Sunday. The match began with one of the tightest doubles battles of the season. Angelique Berrat and Ana Martinez Vaquero set the tone with a 6-3 victory on court one, but the Golden Eagles answered with a 7-5 win on court two, leaving the deciding point up to court three. Jenaila Prulla and Ivana Castillo delivered in a tiebreaker, securing a 7-6 (8-6) victory to clinch the point.

Louisiana carried that momentum into singles, as Berrat secured her eighth win of the season in a 6-0, 6-1 win on court one. While Karolina Skowronska added a 6-1, 6-3 victory on five, and Castillo clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win on six.

Berrat leads the team with eight singles wins, including a 6-3 record on court one. Castillo and Nina Krecklenberg are also having strong seasons with seven singles wins while Rocio Navarro has six. Castillo is tied with Prulla at eight doubles wins, while Berrat and Krecklenberg each have seven.

No. 41 Old Dominion (12-4) enters the match undefeated in Sun Belt play at 7-0. The Monarchs have earned notable wins this season, including a victory over No. 54 Princeton and a 4-1 win against South Alabama.

James Madison comes into the weekend 6-11 and 4-3 in SBC action. They alternated wins and losses to start the conference slate before back-to-back wins over Southern Miss and South Alabama. Last weekend, they had their short winning streak snapped in a home loss to ODU.
