2025 Baseball Preview: The Old Dominion Series

NORFOLK, Va. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team opens the second half of its Sun Belt Conference schedule when it travels to face Old Dominion in a three-game series beginning on Thursday at Harbor Park.

First pitch for Thursday's opener is set for 5 p.m. CT. The series continues on Friday at 2 p.m. before the finale on Saturday at noon CT. All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+ with fans able to listen to every game in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.

Louisiana (17-22, 8-7 SBC), tied with Georgia State for fifth in the league standings, wraps up a seven-game roadtrip with its second trip to the Commonwealth of Virginia in the past three seasons.

The Ragin' Cajuns dropped two of three games last weekend at ULM, dropping a pair of one-run contests, including their first extra-inning game of the season.

Conor Higgs (.333-12-27) leads Louisiana in average, home runs and RBI with Owen Galt (.292-0-10), Caleb Stelly (.292-5-20) and Lee Amedee (.278-1-22) following. Jose Torres (.261-1-22) and Carson Hepworth (.260-2-8) are next in hitting for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Louisiana will send left-hander Chase Morgan (3-1, 2.43 ERA) to the mound in Thursday's opener with southpaw Andrew Herrmann (2-3, 4.70 ERA) slated to pitch on Friday. Right-hander JR Tollett (3-3, 3.40 ERA) will earn the start in Saturday's finale.

ODU (12-22, 7-8 Sun Belt) won two of three games at Georgia Southern last weekend but suffered a 16-13 setback to VCU on Tuesday night at War Memorial Stadium. ODU led 9-7 through four innings, but the Rams used a six-run sixth inning to jump ahead and held off a late Monarch rally.

The Monarchs will start lefthanders Ben Moore (2-4, 6.50 ERA) on Thursday, Dylan Brown (2-2, 4.15 ERA) on Friday, and Blake Morgan (3-2, 4.71 ERA) on Saturday. Brown is the SBC leader in both strikeouts (64) and strikeouts per nine innings (12.08).
