The Cajuns have won their last five matches
CONWAY, S.C. – The Louisiana women's tennis team heads on the road this week to begin Sun Belt Conference play, facing Coastal Carolina on Friday, March 7, before taking on Georgia Southern on Saturday, March 9.
Louisiana enters the week on a hot streak, winning its last five matches, including a 4-1 victory over Southern in their last outing. The Cajuns dominated in doubles, sweeping all three courts. Kamea Medora and Nina Krecklenberg finished with a flawless 6-0 win. On courts two and three, Louisiana secured back-to-back victories, each dropping only one set.
In singles, Ivana Castillo and Rocio Navarro both earned straight-set victories. On court two, Angelique Berrat picked up her sixth singles win of the season, tying Navarro for the most singles victories this season for the Cajuns.
It was Navarro's fifth-straight win while Berrat has a four-match winning streak along with Krecklenberg. As a team, the Cajuns are a combined 29-12 in singles this year.
Krecklenberg is up to five singles wins, nearly matching her win total from last season of eight. Ivana Castillo is 5-1 on the year with three wins in a row. The freshman has been fantastic in singles with a 6-0 record, winning three matches with Navarro and three matches with Jenaila Prulla.
Coastal Carolina heads into the weekend on a four-match winning streak, with a 5-3 record this season. The Chanticleers have yet to lose at home this season, going 3-0. Meanwhile, Georgia Southern stands at 8-3 after dropping their last match to South Carolina State, 4-3. The Eagles have impressed all season, with two of their three losses coming against No. 21 Florida and No. 25 UCF.
Following the road trip, Louisiana returns home to Cajun Courts on March 16 for a match-up against Arkansas State.
