Cajuns Host UNCW To Open Nine-Game Homestand

First meeting on diamond between 2024 NCAA Regional participants
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team opens the first of two nine-game homestands beginning Wednesday when it hosts UNC Wilmington at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be streamed live in the Lafayette area on ESPN+ with Dan McDonald (pxp) and Eric Mouton (color) on the call. Fans can also listen to the game in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
Louisiana (5-7) looks to rebound after a three-game sweep at nationally-ranked UC Irvine. The Ragin' Cajuns belted seven home runs in the three-game series with Conor Higgs (.316-4-6) and Drew Markle (.298-2-7) – the team's top two hitters – each recording two.
Right-hander Tate Hess (1-1, 4.22 ERA) will make his second career start on the mound for Louisiana. The right-hander earned his first career victory in last week's 9-7 win over Southeastern Louisiana.
UNCW (7-5), which will play a three-game series this weekend at Southern Miss, took two of three games last weekend against Liberty. Alec DeMartino (.283-2-7) and Tanner Thach (.265-2-6) lead the Seahawks at the plate.
The Seahawks will send right-hander Khris Morris (0-0, 0.00 ERA) to the mound for his second start of the year and first since going 2.1 innings on February 18 against Duke.
