Louisiana Opens Cajun Winter Classic with a Pair of Wins

The Cajuns have now won three straight at home
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana men's tennis team picked up a pair of wins on the opening day of the Cajun Winter Classic. The Ragin' Cajuns opened the day with a 4-0 win over Southern Arkansas before capping the day with a 4-2 win over Tyler Junior College.
After taking the doubles point from the Muleriders the Cajuns cruised in singles. Vasil Dimitrov faced little resistance in his 6-1, 6-0 court one win and Calin Postea earned a 6-1, 6-1 win on five to put the Cajuns on the verge of clinching. Mason Landreth finished the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court three, leaving the other three matches unfinished.
The second match of the day was a little more tightly contested. Tyler Junior College won the doubles point, putting the Cajuns behind early. Leonard Tramolay got them on the board with a court six win, 6-1, 6-3, and shortly after Postea picked up his second win of the day by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Oriol Fillat Gimenez's 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win on two put the Cajuns a win away from the match.
TJC wouldn't go quietly, picking up a second point with a singles win on four while the other two matches went to a third set. Landreth clinched the match in three-set fashion, 6-0, 3-6, 6-2, for Louisiana's third straight victory.
The Cajuns look to cap off a perfect weekend at 9 a.m. when they face UT Arlington.
