Strong Singles Play Leads Louisiana to Win Over UTA

The Cajuns won their fourth straight match on Saturday
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana men's tennis team won their fourth match in a row on the back of a strong performance in singles action to earn a 4-1 win over UT Arlington on Saturday. The win capped off a 3-0 performance in the Cajun Winter Classic at Cajun Courts.
The Ragin' Cajuns fell behind after the Mavericks won the doubles point but bounced back in singles. Oriol Fillat Gimenez, 6-1, 6-2, and Samuel Kyjaci, 6-2, 6-1, both made quick work of their opponents, winning in less than an hour.
On court one, Vasil Dimitrov earned a hard-fought two-set win after winning the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1, to put the Cajuns on the verge of clinching. Calin Postea won the first set, 6-2, before dropping the second, 4-6. After the sides held serve in the third set, Postea finally broke serve while leading 4-3. He took advantage of that to finish off the third set, 6-3, to clinch the match for the Cajuns.
The Cajuns head to the Pacific Northwest next weekend to face New Mexico and Oregon starting on Saturday.
