The Cajuns won four of the six singles points for the win
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Louisiana men's tennis team started their weekend on the right foot with a 4-2 victory over New Mexico State on Saturday in Corpus Christi, Texas. No doubles matches were played after the match was moved indoors due to weather and the Cajuns clinched the match in singles.
With only three available indoor courts, the day began with the matches on courts one, two, and three. With wins on two and three, the Aggies jumped out to the early 2-0 lead. Oriol Fillat Gimenez continued his hot play with a three-set victory, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 to get Louisiana on the board on court one.
Samuel Kyjaci won his fourth singles contest in a row quickly with a score of 6-2, 6-0. Leonard Tramolay followed with a straight-set 7-6 (7-0), 6-3 win to at least force an if necessary round of doubles. It wasn't needed as William Jade pulled off a court five victory, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 to clinch the match.
