Louisiana Opens Final Road Trip at Troy

The Cajuns have dropped four straight in the series

TROY, Alabama – For the second time in eight days the Louisiana men's basketball team takes on Troy. The Cajuns hit the road this time and head to Trojan Arena on Thursday night.

Louisiana picked up a big win on Saturday, 79-68, over Marshall on Senior Day. Mostapha El Moutaouakkil had a huge performance with 23 points and eight rebounds while Christian Wright added 20 points. The Cajuns scored a season-high 25 fastbreak points and dominated inside with 40 paint points.

Troy won both games last week and is part of a four-way tie at the top of the Sun Belt Conference at 10-4, along with Arkansas State, South Alabama, and James Madison. The Trojans have won four in a row over the Cajuns dating back to 2023.

• Louisiana faces Troy for the second time in the span of eight days. The Ragin' Cajuns look to snap a four-game losing streak to the Trojans.
• The Cajuns celebrated Senior Day last Saturday against Marshall. Louisiana won 79-68, their first double digit win since November 7 and their most points in a game since November 25.
Kentrell Garnett became the 52nd player in program history to reach the 1,000-point scoring mark against Georgia Southern. Garnett has had a season filled with milestones already. This season he has broken the program record for games played and has cracked the school's top-five list for career three-pointers. Louisiana is the 44th program in NCAA Division I to have 52+ 1,000-point scorers.
Mostapha El Moutaouakkil continues to produce in SBC play. The junior is scoring (16.9) and rebounding (6.8) in SBC games. He is 40th in the country in free throw makes (121) and 48th in attempts (157). He is tops in the SBC in free throw makes.
• El Moutaouakkil and Christian Wright combined for 43 points in Saturday's win. It was the 11th time this season El Moutaouakkil led the team in scoring while it was Wright's second 20-point effort.
• Louisiana is second in the league in free throw shooting at .782 percent in conference play.
