Louisiana Takes Down UT Tyler for First Win of 2025

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana men's tennis team earned their first win of the season with a 5-2 victory over UT Tyler on Saturday at Cajun Courts. It was the first victory under head coach Thomas Sevel.
Louisiana earned the doubles point quickly. Calin Postea and Darius Balan got them on the board first with a 6-2 win on court three. Leonard Tramolay and Samuel Kyjaci earn a win on court one 6-4, just beating William Jade and Oriol Fillat Gimenez, who won on court two 6-3, to clinch the point.
Singles were tightly contested. Fillat Gimenez won on court one, 6-4, 6-4, for the team's second point. Mason Landreth put them a point away from clinching with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 win on court two, but the other three matches went to a third set. William Jade clinched the match with a comeback win after dropping the opening set, 5-7, 6-1, 6-3. Leonard Tramolay capped off the victory with a win on five by the slimmest of margins. The sophomore needed three sets but came away victorious, 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (8-10), 10-6.
The Cajuns remain at home for the Cajun Winter Classic beginning on Friday.
