Freshman Earns First Win in Season Opener at UCF

William Jade earned the win in his first match of the spring
ORLANDO, FL. – The Louisiana men's tennis team opened the spring season with a doubleheader at UCF on Saturday. The Cajuns saw freshman William Jade earn a singles win in the second match of the day, the first of his collegiate career, along with a doubles victory. It wasn't enough as the Golden Knights took the first match 6-1 and the second 5-2.
Samuel Kyjaci earned a three-set win in the first match of the day. The sophomore came from behind after dropping the first set to win in a third set, 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8). Kyjaci had a pair of wins on the day as he also helped lead Louisiana to the doubles point in match two. Kyjaci and Leonard Tramolay pulled off a 6-4 win on court one to clinch the point.
They were in that position thanks to Jade and Oriol Fillat Gimenez after they won on court two, 6-3. Jade got into the second match singles lineup after a change. The freshman won two tightly contested sets, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5, for the hard-fought victory.
The Cajuns return to action on Wednesday against LSU in Baton Rouge.
