The Cajuns didn’t drop a set in singles
LAFAYETTE, Louisiana - Strong singles play led the Louisiana men's tennis team to a 4-1 victory over Southern Miss on Sunday at Cajun Courts.
The visiting Golden Eagles came out strong in doubles where all three matches went to a tiebreaker. The visitors won the first match on three before Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez and Sacha Grandvincent pulled out the 7-6 (9-7) win. The Golden Eagles outlasted the Cajuns on two for the first point of the day.
Louisiana flipped the switch in singles, taking all six opening sets. Oriol Fillat Gimenez picked up the first win of the day, cruising 6-1, 6-2 on court five. For Fillat Gimenez it was his seventh straight win in singles. Not long after, Samuel Kyjaci joined him in the win column with a 6-4, 6-1 win on court six.
