Louisiana Set to Face South Alabama in SBC Quarterfinals

The Cajuns look to advance to the SBC semifinals for the first time since 2015
ROME, Georgia - The Louisiana men's tennis team faces a familiar foe in South Alabama in the Sun Belt Conference quarterfinals beginning Friday at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia.
The Cajuns finished the regular season with 11 wins and went 6-2 at home. Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez earned First Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors in singles after winning a team-leading 11 matches, including four in conference play.
With 10 wins, Vasil Dimitrov finished second on the team in singles. Oriol Fillat Gimenez had a strong showing in conference play, winning four of his seven matches. Samuel Kyjaci also had a strong conference season with a 4-1 record.
The Jaguars finished the regular season 9-10 but got the better of the Cajuns in Mobile earlier in the season, 4-1. Harold van Raemdonck was the only Jag to finish above .500 in conference play this spring at 4-1, playing primarily on court six. The team's top doubles pairing, Braden Hannig and Jack Clements went 3-0 in SBC play.
The Cajuns and Jaguars have split their last two matches in the SBC Championships. Louisiana bested South Alabama in 2014, 4-3, to win the conference championship. The Jags won the rematch back in 2021.
