Louisiana Heads to San Marcos for Saturday SBC Showdown

Only two matches remain on the schedule in the regular season
SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Louisiana women's tennis team enters the home stretch of the regular season with just two matches on the schedule. They'll start that stretch tomorrow in San Marcos against Texas State.

The Cajuns head to San Marcos for the first time since 2019, with the last three in the series being played in Lafayette. Last season the Bobcats got the best of the Cajuns 4-3.

Angelique Berrat has been on a tear lately, winning her last four contests. That has vaulted her to a four-way tie with Nina Krecklenberg, Cristina Tchanichev, and Carla Urchoeguia for the most singles wins on the team with six. Berrat and Urchoeguia also lead the way with four wins in doubles as a pairing, all on court one.

The Bobcats are 10-6 on the year and 4-4 in conference play. All four conference losses have come within their last six contests and they snapped a three-match losing streak on Sunday in a win over Georgia State. Andrea Pineda leads the Bobcats with 11 wins while Sofia Fortuno is right behind her with 10. Fortuno also leads the team in doubles, winning eight matches with partner Maria Lora.
